Younger Volunteer

  1. Hold a canned food drive at your school for the Soup Kitchen.

  2. Make cookies, brownies, soup or a casserole and bring it to the Soup Kitchen (please call in advance to arrange drop-off.)

  3. Make sack lunches for our guests to take away for dinner (i.e. ham and cheese sandwich with an apple and chips).

  4. Participate in the Hunger Walk.

  5. Do chores around the house for money to donate to the Soup Kitchen

  6. Collect sleeping bags, blankets, warm coats, mittens, scarves, and new socks.

  7. Hold a dance or talent show at school, charge for tickets, and donate the proceeds to the Soup Kitchen. Or run a bake sale or lemonade stand for our benefit.

  8. Have a poster contest at school about poverty and homelessness.

  9. Make banners and table decorations to make the dining room more cheerful.

  10. Collect envelopes, stationery, stamps, or phone cards for our guests.

  11. Call our office at (973) 267-0709 to arrange a tour of the Soup Kitchen

  12. Donate washcloths, soap, and toiletries like shampoo and deodorant for our guests.

  13. Organize a work party to clean the kitchen, stock groceries, or sort clothes.

  14. Collect loose change (you may bring it in rolled or unrolled).

  15. Think kind thoughts about people who are hungry and homeless.
