1. Call the Soup Kitchen
office at (973) 267-0709 to arrange to volunteer on a weekday from 10:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. preparing food, serving, and cleaning up. Unfortunately, we rarely
have serving opportunities on weekends. You must be 12 years old or older
to serve at the Soup Kitchen.
2. Make cookies, brownies, cakes, pies, or some other kind of dessert to be
served to our guests.
3. Make sack lunches for our guests to take away for dinner (i.e. ham and
cheese sandwiches, apples, and chips)
4. Bake casseroles for
the Soup Kitchen to have on hand in case of emergencies.
5. Conduct a canned
food drive, a juice drive, a paper products drive, or a toiletry drive.
6. Collect sleeping bags, blankets, warm coats, mittens, scarves, and new
socks.
7. Assemble cutlery packets (supplies available through the Soup Kitchen.)
8. Donate money to the Soup Kitchen or make a donation of someone else's name
(gift certificates are available through the Soup Kitchen office).
9. Alert the Soup Kitchen about job opportunities for guests.
10. Volunteer special talents such as skilled carpentry, computer technology,
ect.
11. Specify the Soup Kitchen as a designated recipient of your United Way
donation.
12. Sign up to be an
emergency back up volunteer.
13. Organize a work party to come in and clean the kitchen.
14. If you have a truck, help us collect food from the Community Food
Bank.
